History of Silivri Klassis Sports Facilities Golf Club
Klassis Golf & Country Club opened its doors on June 15, 1994, under the leadership of Ahmet Hamoğlu, becoming a gathering place for golf enthusiasts. Designed by Tony Jacklin, the 18-hole championship course and the 9-hole academy course were prepared to offer golfers a unique experience. Since its inception, the club has made significant contributions to the development of golf in Turkey and has guided the careers of many golfers.
Challenging Times and Rebirth
However, the year 2012 marked the beginning of a challenging period for Klassis Golf & Country Club. During that time, Serdar Candar took on the role of club captain with the approval of former captains and the president. Unfortunately, at the end of 2012, the club was closed by President Ahmet Hamoğlu. This closure created a significant void in the golfing community, not only for Klassis Golf & Country Club but also with the closure of the Istanbul Golf Club course located in Maslak at that time. Golf enthusiasts began to feel the absence of the social and sporting environment they had lost with the closure of these two courses.
During this difficult period, Ahmet Ağaoğlu, President of the Turkish Golf Federation, Mustafa Koç, President of the Istanbul Golf Club, and Serdar Candar decided to collaborate to preserve Klassis Golf Course. In March 2012, Ahmet Ağaoğlu and Mustafa Koç took on all expenses and reopened Klassis Golf Course for golf lovers. During this process, former club captain Serdar Candar moved his home from Istanbul to Silivri to live there and ensure the course’s survival. The revival of the club was met with great joy in the golfing community, providing an opportunity for golf enthusiasts to come together once again.
Establishment of Klassis Golf Club
A year later, it was decided to carry on the name of Klassis Golf Club in place of the closed Klassis Golf & Country Club. In 2013, Serdar Candar, Cavit Yıldız, Hüseyin Alp, Tevfik Gür, and Şinasi Numan came together to establish Klassis Golf Club. As a founding member, Serdar Candar served as club president for four consecutive years. The contributions of Cavit Yıldız, who served as club captain during this period, are also unforgettable. The club aimed to make a fresh start by offering golf enthusiasts a broader social and sporting space.
Over time, this adventure, which began with 30-40 members, has grown into a club with approximately 400 members today, thanks to the contributions of all past presidents, board members, and captains. Klassis Golf Sports Club, which continues to grow day by day, embodies the spirit of a strong family among all its members. While reinforcing the sense of belonging, the club brings together golf enthusiasts through joint organizations with golf clubs in Turkey and abroad. Klassis Golf Club, which organizes sponsored and club tournaments, also continues to nurture new talents in golf by training gifted children from Silivri and surrounding villages.

Following the recent legal changes, the club, now named Silivri Klassis Sports Facilities Golf Sports Club, continues to carry its legacy into the future while contributing to the sport of golf and fostering new friendships. The club will always maintain its identity not just as a haven for golf lovers, but as a passion, a family, and a community.
Silivri Klassis Sports Facilities Golf Sports Club continues to organize various projects and events to promote the growth and development of golf.
